Tegan!

June 26, 2008

Tegan is about a year and a half. Like most year and a half olds, he is a very busy and determined little boy! So, when we did his downtown session, he had no intentions of sitting and smiling for the camera! He was on the go! This is what we saw most of the time… him turning around and running! So, we had to turn to desperate measures… we had to bribe him! We used keys and chap stick…And bubbles….. But, in the end, the pictures are too cute!
I just LOVE this one, even without the smile on Tegan. This was the idea we were trying to do in the first one, but we finally got it two hours later!
Thanks for a fun morning Tegan!

Anna and Emma!

June 26, 2008

I have photographed Anna and Emma before, and I loved to see them again! They are getting so big! The first time I photographed Emma, she was 18 months, and really didn’t want her picture taken. Well, she is older now, and she was full of smiles! So was her sister, Anna. We did the session at Holland State Park.

I love this one of Anna, and Emma playing in the background! The lighting was just perfect at 8:45 pm! I love this back light! The two girls together….
And, my favorite, a painting for them!

I can’t believe I forgot to post Scott and Stephanie’s slide show! So Sorry! So, for those of you who have been waiting, here it is!

Jason + Hillary

June 24, 2008

Jason and Hillary were married last Sat on a beautiful day! The wedding was at Bethany Christian Reformed in Holland, and the reception was at Raleigh Woods.

I thought this book was great! 101 uses for a brides maids dress! I won’t tell what she was looking at to get this reaction! (Check the proofs if you want to see!) Jason and Hillary looked great on their special day!

Of course I had to try a little sun flair! The guys were having fun playing around at Centennial Park.

Then, they played a joke on Hillary and Jason. Before the wedding, they kept joking that they would have to have ham on buns at the wedding since it was costing so much. Well, when it was time for dinner, the server brought Hillary and Jason Ham on Buns! (Set up by Hillary’s brother!)

First dance….
More dancing…. Jason is the KING at the YMCA! I had heard this before the wedding, but I really couldn’t believe that someone had a motion for EVERY WORD of the YMCA! It was GREAT!
Congratulations Hillary and Jason…. if you want to see more, watch the slide show here!

Evan and Lauren

June 24, 2008

I met Even and Lauren out at the park last week for some portraits.  Even was full of smiles… Lauren not so much.  I think that sometimes the cutest pictures of kids are serious ones.   I just love these of Lauren.  We finally had to take her to the playground to get some smiles… and we did get some.  (But, I like the serious ones better!  Don’t tell her mom!)

Riley!

June 19, 2008

I had a great time with Riley down town the other day! (Although his mom might beg to differ after she followed me the wrong way down a one way street!) This first one is by far my favorite from the entire session! I knew when I took it that I would like it. I did this one for me. This isn’t the type of image you order to give to grandma, this is the kind of image that is for my print competition! (Well, maybe mom will like it too!) Thanks for the great morning Riley!

Scott and Stephanie!

June 18, 2008

Scott and Stephanie were actually married in April, in Mexico. (I did tell her I would fly to Mexico to do the wedding, but she had an inclusive package that included a photographer already!) So, they had their reception here in Michigan last weekend! We did all the bride and groom pictures downtown, and then headed to a park. The family pictures and the reception were at the park.

Scott’s uncle and cousins made the wine for the wedding! The cake was so cute… and everything had a tropical theme to it to remind them of Mexico!

I love this picture of Stephanie… she is looking at Scott!

I finally got the slideshow done for Crystal and Justin’s wedding! Check it out here!

GLIP!

June 12, 2008
I am having a great time at GLIP!  I am taking a class by Bryan Cox called high fashion weddings.  Here is a model session that we were working on this week.

Here is Bry shooting!
And our beautiful model…

We also learned some photoshop techniques.  Below is a sample of what we learned.  We did some texture layering.  The first image is the original, and the second image is the texture image.

Then we did some oil painting effects.  The first is a model couple that were here at GLIP
I liked the technique so much, that I decided to try it on a couple of my recent images… this is from Matt and Jen’s wedding…
And this one is from Justin and Crystal’s wedding.
Then, on Monday night and Tuesday night, I went out to play with a couple of other photographers.  We decided to try something fun.  We took this image in the parking lot.  We shined the car headlights on the back of our model’s (Jessie) hair.  Then we lit her with a flash which was off camera to the left side of the image.  I must be a photography geek to get excited about something like this!

Crystal + Justin!

June 9, 2008
Crystal and Justin were married last Saturday!  It was a beautiful outdoor wedding!  The wedding was at Post Family Farms, and the reception was at Thornapple Pointe Golf Club.

Crystal made a lot of the decorations, and they were so cute!
I couldn’t resist these cute kids playing in the field during the reception!
My assistant Matt shot this awesome cake picture before the storm rolled in….
It was a great party!
