Benjamin

January 31, 2008

Here is little Benjamin! He is such a cutie! His dad helped me fix my computer, so we traded for maternity and newborn images. (Thanks Kyle!) So, he came over this week for his newborn session. I loved this blanket! I love things that are individual to to each baby. Here are a few of my favorites…

I also made them a stroy board…

Jeff+Andrea!

January 29, 2008

Andrea and Jeff are getting married in August. They really wanted a beach engagement session, but it is a little cold! They wanted to have an engagement session, so that they could send one to the press, and send out save the date cards. So, we did an indoor session now, and we will do the fun beach session when it is a little warmer out! So, here are some from our indoor session.

And here is a sample “save the date” card that I made for them! Thanks Andrea and Jeff, I can’t wait to do the beach session!

Madeleine Rose

January 29, 2008

Madeleine came for a newborn session last week. She was so good! She hardly fussed at all, which is unusual for newborn sessions! I love the baby part pictures!

Look at the way her little fingers are folded here! Isn’t that precious?

John + Rhonda!

January 25, 2008

Last weekend was the beginning of John and Rhonda’s life as a married couple. It was such a beautiful wedding! The ceremony was at the Calvin College chapel, which is just beautiful! The reception was at The Bridge Water Place in downtown Grand Rapids. Here are some of my favorites… and don’t forget to watch the slide show!

Isn’t this a beautiful place for a wedding? John and Rhonda both attended Calvin College.

John and Rhonda are big bike riders… I loved this cake topper!
Congratulations John and Rhonda! Thank you for letting me share in your special day!

Competition!

January 23, 2008

Well, we had our annual PPWM (Professional Photographers of West Michigan) competition Monday night. I have to say that I am very happy with the results. I entered 4 prints. I entered two into the Portrait category, and two into the Illustrative category. I was very nervous. The judges were being tough. The prints are scored from 1-100. 80 and above is considered a “Merit”, which is something photographers strive for. Well I kept track of all the scores. It isn’t 100% accurate, because I was distracted by listening to what the judges said about each print that was judged, but I think it is fairly close to accurate. Here were the statistics that I had…. There were 53 prints that were entered. Only 6 scored 80 or above, and the highest score handed out for the evening was 81 (The lowest was 71). Well, I am proud to say that I had three of the 6 merit prints. I had two prints that scored 81, one scored 80, and one scored 79.

Then, after all the scoring is done, they judge for the best print of each category. They vote which one will be called “best of show” for each category. I received the best of show for the portrait and the best of show for the illustrative category! I was on cloud nine! Now, I am off to enter these in the state convention next weekend. Someone took a picture of me with my ribbons to show here, but they didn’t email it to me yet…. I’ll post it as soon as I receive it. For now, here are the ones I entered…
Best of show for illistrative
Best of show for Portriat:

Samuel

January 22, 2008

Yikes! I have so much to blog about! I am a little behind… John and Rhonda were married last Saturday… I had print competition last night, and last week I did Samuel’s newborn session. So, I’ll start with Samuel… he was such a sweetie!

Phil + Tammi

January 16, 2008

Tammi and Phil’s wedding was so fun… and so different! I love things that are a little bit different from the ordinary. When I look back at the pictures, the think I like the best is the colors! Everything was very colorful. The wedding ceremony was at Key Stone Community church in Ada. They had a room called the “egg room”, because it was… well… shaped like an egg. I loved the bright orange walls!
There was a little coffee cafe in the church that we captured some fun pictures!

It was an evening ceremony, and it was all dark with glowing lights! There were even great colors during the ceremony! Phil worked production for the church, so this was his speciality!
Then, one of my favorite parts was the confetti! Phil and Tammi didn’t know about it. It was a surprise… well it sure surprised them! Phil couldn’t stop laughing about it!
Even the reception was different! It was held at the Grand Rapids Children’s museum. They did toasts in the tree house!
The Children’s museum was fully staffed and open for play. Here is an image of Phil “playing”.
Congratulations Phil and Tammi! To see more pictures, watch their slide show here!

Birth Slideshow

January 13, 2008

I made a slide show from the images from Sylvia’s entry into the world! Like I said earlier, it was amazing, and beyond words…. so, here is the slide show!

Ethan!

January 8, 2008

Patience pays off! I just read this quote, “Patience means waiting with out complaining for something that you hope will happen.” Well, it DID happen! One thing about newborn sessions, is that you can’t tell newborns what to do. Ethan love to snuggle with his mom and dad, and didn’t particularly like getting his picture taken. But, we were patient, and it sure paid off. I was able to capture some precious images of this little sweetie! Here are some of my favorites from the session…
