Blake and Bella

May 31, 2007

This week I did Bella’s newborn portraits with her big brother Blake. I photographed Blake last year when he turned one, now he is two. I have had a lot of two year olds and newborns lately!

I couldn’t believe how alert Bella was for a newborn. She was only 2 weeks old, but she acted like a 2 month old. She was so good! She didn’t cry at all.

I like to show how small they really are. With their feet and hands I like to show perspective with the parents hands.
Blake was a busy two year old! He kept me hopping… trying to catch a picture of him! See what I mean?

I love this one of Blake! It is my favorite, I didn’t even ask him to do it!

Natalie

May 22, 2007

Natalie is two years old,. She is such a cutie! She is SO EXPRESSIVE! As a photographer I LOVE that. I made this story board with some of her expressions! She was a poser too… she will be a model someday! Here is another favorite of mine…

Katie Jo and Aiden

May 22, 2007

Aiden got a new baby sister this week, so he brought her over for some newborn portraits. Katie Jo was a beautiful 4 day old baby! I love babies when they are that little! Here is little Katie Jo….
Aiden is a VERY BUSY 2 year old… it took quite a while to get him to slow down and give his baby sister a kiss!I think bubbles are a child photographers best friend. If all else fails… pull out the bubbles! Aiden loved playing with the bubbles, and it was the only way I could get him in front of the camera and lights! Thanks for playing with me Aiden!

Stacy and Jesse

May 22, 2007

Saturday I photographed Stacy and Jesse for their engagement session. They were a fun couple, I can’t wait to do their wedding in August! We did an indoor session, but it was so beautiful outside, we decided to go to the neighbors house and grab a couple outdoor images. I think I tend to like the outdoor images better in general. People usually are more formal inside, and they relax a little more outside. So, here re my favorite from the session, one indoors and one outdoors!

Anna and Emma

May 19, 2007

I did Emma’s portraits for her last summer, so it was fun to see Emma again. This time she brought her new baby sister Anna along. Anna was a beautiful new baby, and was very good! Here are a few of her newborn portraits…

Thank goodness for bubbles! Emma was a very busy two year old, and loved bubles. We captured some great images of her playing with bubbles!

Studio Wall

May 19, 2007

This week my friend came over and helped me paint my back wall of my studio area that we are finishing. My intention with this is to be able to shoot on a wood floor and painted wall in the background. This way I can have a different look and fit a few more people than my current back drops. I really like how the wall turned out. We used 3 colors and sponged it on and blended it in. Here is a picture of my son standing in front of my newly painted wall!

Ben and Rachel

May 15, 2007

Ben and Rachel had a beautiful day on Saturday for their wedding! There was a blue sky and it was warm! It was a great day for a wedding. Rachel made a beautiful bride (what girl doesn’t?) and Ben a handsome groom. Here are some of my favorites from the day. If you want to see more, view their slide show HERE!

Chuck and Sandy

May 11, 2007

This week I did Chuck and Sandy’s engagement session. This was a fun session… different that what I am usually used to with an engagement session. You can probably tell why when you look at the images. Spring Grove Park is my favorite park to shoot at. We had a beautiful day with a beautiful couple in Love!

New Studio!

May 11, 2007

Those of you who have been to my home studio know that I shoot in an area in my unfinished basement. We have wanted to finish it for a while, but have never had the extra money. Well, we are starting on it. I am so excited! We had the whole area drywalled. I am putting in a wood laminate floor where I will shoot. I am also painting two walls so I can shoot on the wood floor with the painted walls as a background, in addition to my backdrops. The drywaller finished yesterday, so my husband painted it tonight. He still has to paint the rest of the basement. We aren’t going to lay carpet or put in a ceiling yet. But, it looks great so far! Here are some pictures of him painting tonight…
This is a view of the shooting area (and my couch… the basement is torn apart right now). It is hard to see, but the back wall is brown and the right side is grey. I am going to give the back wall a textured paint look with 3 different brown colors. Then, we will lay the wood floor down.

Well, I officially Started my wedding season last Saturday with Kyle and Megan. They had a gorgeous wedding! The wedding was at Grand Haven Golf Club. The day was perfect. It was cloudy (great for pictures), and not too hot and not too cold. It was a beautiful facility! I was glad it didn’t rain, because we did all the pictures out side, and their cocktail hour was also outside while they were setting up for the reception. I had a hard time picking out my favorite images for my blog post, because I loved so many of them. So, if you want to see more, watch their slide show here!
